Bill: Finance Discussions of May 2965

Details

Submitted by[?]: Paleofederalist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2968

Description[?]:

Finance Minister Dan Stanfield wishes to propose the following economic update:

We feel that our current level of federal government spending is optimal (~5% of GDP). We also feel that our current flat sales tax rate of 7% is appropriate. The Department of Finance urges the Provincial Treasury/Finance Ministries to aim for similar levels of taxation and spending, not going below 4%, but not exceeding 10% of provincial GDP. However, it is important to note that we have no jurisdiction over their budgets.

We would like to ask the different parties (especially the ministers responisble for the listed departments) to request increases or decreases (or neither) in their departments.

The Department of Finance would like to see each new government have an in-legislature discussion on the budget, like this one.

MessageYou should reduce trade and industry by a substantial amount. It really isn't the governments job to be very involved in that area in a free society.

MessageWhy lower the Science & Technology funding by only 8 rupans to 4 rupans?

That can't even buy you a bunson burner.

MessageWe were thinking of giving 0.8 rupans to each province so that they may study the effects of federalism on the lifespan of a pack of sea monkeys.

Random quote: "Soldiers are not the enemies of the movement. They're potential allies. They're more than that. Soldiers are the only people in America who are paying a stiff price for this war. Everybody else profits. Soldiers are the ones losing their lives, losing friends, having their lives disrupted. The real victims of American imperialism are its soldiers." - Fred Gardner
