Message | Mr Speaker, we can support this bill, however, Article II, we believe, is a mistake. It should be the right of the government to refuse an embassy to a power that it does not recognise as legitimate. If a people are being suppressed by a power that has taken office through revolution or coup d'etat, then we should bar that 'government' from having an embassy. Mr Speaker, we also have qualms with Article I, but can support it. Article III we wholeheartedly support and have done for years when the two current mainstream parties would not support us in altering. |
