Bill: Militia Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Anarcho-Primitivist Concern

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2970

Description[?]:

The purpose of this bill is to allow other groups to operate along the same lines as the Red Tigers. Civilian militias, tightly regulated to prevent the use of their guns in peace time, would provide a check on the power of the government in times of war.

MessageWe don't support, sorry. Gun Control is important to us.

I'm pretty sure it will pass though.

MessageWe, er, agree with SCI, particularly since it was our bill that put gun control on the agenda in the first place. It is sad to see that the LL are having to resort to Nazism and forming terrorist groups intent on undermining the democratic voice of the people in order to maintain what little remaining grip they hold on power.

MessageAs is so often the case, I'm not sure the SLD grasps what we're trying to do at all. The aim of this is not to form terrorist groups, but to provide groups to exist which would compete with the Red Tigers. We have our paramilitary group in the form of the Red Tigers, we just thought it would be wise to allow other parties the same right to establish militias. This will give us a better trained reserve army, and it will mean that the communists do not have an unfair advantage. It will also legitimise the Red Tigers, which serves the interests of the Leftist League. So everybody wins.

If arming your political opponents and allowing them the same rights you enjoy can be understood as Nazi, then we are not sure the word has any meaning.

MessageWe mustn't support militia, as each and every group will be independent, and that could lead to chaos, and even a civil war.

We disagree with this bill.

MessageParamilitary forces are invariably a threat to--not a defender of--democracy.

MessageWe see this going towards a civil war in Ikradon as WLI 2.0 would simply just use this as these militias to further there acts of oppression over the working class.

MessageThis coming from the organisation which holds the only militia force in Ikradon, and who wants to aid the religious crusaders a continent away, in their illegal civil war.

Ban any and every militia in Ikradon, dissolve the Red Tigers. DT obviously sees that only the LL should be allowed a militia wing.

MessageWLI 2.0 does not exist--"WLI 1.0" itself barely existed and only as a moderate alternative to the extremes of LL policy.

The FFP strongly believes that our armed forces must be democratically controlled and fully accountable to this assembly; as such, we support the banning of all private militias.

MessageFurthermore, the RM-S's proposal sounds dangerously close to advocating the settling of political differences through violence rather than through debate and discussion.
