Message | The Green Moderate Party has some problems with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. 1. Article 7 "All are entitled to equal protection against...any incitement to such discrimination." This would outlaw many forms of incitement to discrimination which are protected as free opinion and expression under Article 19:" Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers." 2. Article 12 "No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks." This may outlaw justifiable accusations that do not constitute slander or libel. 3. Given the fundamental importance of the natural environment to the ensurance of human rights, an article describing the human right to sufficiently clean water, air, and other resources seems wrongfully ommitted. That said, we do not have a problem with the proposed restrictions on specific laws, outlined below the description of the treaty. |

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election. |
