Bill: Resolution: Astoria City Bid for the Artanian Olympics

Details

Submitted by[?]: Kapitalistyczna Partia Hobrazia

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2971

Description[?]:

CPoH Leader Ellen van Osten speaks:

"This bill seeks to confirm the support of all Hobrazian political parties for the principle of an Astoria City bid for the inaugural Artanian Olympics.

We strongly believe that a successful bid would provide our nation with immense benefits.

Economically, the Olympics would strengthen our free trade agreements with our neighbours, as well as bringing enormous amounts of tourism to our nation.

Socially, we would have the chance to welcome people from across Artania to Hobrazia, strengthening ties and transcending differences.

I commend this important resolution to this House."

MessageWe support the position within this resolution as Astoria City, as well as other major Hobrazian cities, have had the facilities to hold these events for centuries. We would expect, considering the wording of the resolution, that the CPoH would support the reintroduction of the treaties of "Belgon" and "Friendship and Economic Freedom Agreement of Holy Luthori Empire and the Hobrazian Imperium." as these treaties were the basis of our freetrade agreements with our friends and neighbours.

MessageWith respect to the above treaties, it is with regret that we inform you that our position on both remains unchanged.

During our negotiations with Selucia in order to ensure a positive relationship with that nation, the attitude taken by Luthori representatives was one of hostility and aggression. We appreciated the support of your party in joining us to ratify our friendship agreement with Selucia. The Luthori delegation clearly felt that their status gave them the right to manipulate and dictate Hobrazian foreign policy, and their attitude towards Hobrazia in general, and the CPoH in particular, was one of condescension and disdain.

We are not opposed to the principle of a new treaty with the Holy Luthori Empire; however, in order that we could be sure of willingness to ratify a treaty, this Party would insist on two points. Firstly, the treaty must actively prohibit either nation taking an involvement in the foreign relations and diplomacy of the other, and secondly we would ask that any Hobrazian delegation to discuss such a treaty contained a CPoH representative at equal level to the Government representative.

We trust that this goes some way to explaining our position.
