MessageBecause of continual growth, I have reduced taxes for the middle and upper tax bands to provide some relief, the highest tax bracket has been eliminated while brackets 4,5 and 6 have beend reduced by 1% which in total offers tax relief of 1,553,000,000 SEN. Obviously my hope is for further growth over the next four years which will allow further tax cuts and perhaps the possibility of eliminating the bottom bracket altogether.

MessageIt is nice to see lower taxes, but again I must express my concerns over the 4th bracket. The middle class is the best spenders in the economy, and the biggest tax cut should go to them, as they are the most numerous and will stimulate the economy most. Perhaps to 2% cut to them?

MessageLP, this party has a prudent, progressive and planned economic policy, we believe in moderate and gradual alterations that are in line with and stimulate growth. The last income tax budget I released reduced taxes for the lower tax brackets and this bill will mean that every tax bracket would have benefitted from lower taxes. Though this party may not hold the economic brief in two years time, I have planned for income taxes to be further reduced in a gradual manner if we do hold it. My ambition 8 years ago was to reduce tax by 2% for everyone and eliminate the lower tax bracket, that ambition will most likely take a further 8 years but it's my belief that this current economic policy has and will benefit the whole nation immensely.

MessageSo a 2% cut would be radical?

MessageNo sorry that's not what I meant, in this tax proposal I wanted to achieve reduction in income tax for everyone over the last 8 years. With increased growth, in 2-4 years time the middle class will see the amount of income tax they pay, decrease. This party is following a steady and progressive decrease in income taxation.

MessageIs VBS going to vote in favour? We know very well what your position was on voting with respect to the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, which you claim "didn't go far enough", so you voted against it...

MessageOf course not. Why be honest and up front? That would just allow debate to flow smoother, and allow the electorate to have a clear idea of what your ideas actually are.
