Message | The following cabinet has been comprised to closely resemble the seats received at the previous election. It is the SDA's policy to include cabinet members of all persuasions so that we can all work together, despite some significant differences, to the betterment of Solentian society. If there are any objections to this proposal I would happy to consider them. President Johnston |
Date | 21:18:41, August 07, 2010 CET | From | Coalition for National Unity [CNU] | To | Debating the Cabinet Proposal of December 2980 |
Message | "The CUP cannot seriously be expected to lose a strong majority of their seats in cabinet despite making gainst at the polls. It is unrepresentative of the voice of the people. Frankly, we also have reservations about the ability of others to complete the tasks given to them in this proposal. For example, should the CUP support a socialist finance minister? Can we honestly believe a Conservative interior minister would protect Solentia's minorities? Is a Monarchist who seeks the end of the Supreme Presidency the best choice for Head of a federal democratic Government? Can the LRP be trusted not to ban private medical enterprise in the Health portfolio? Unfortunately, we do not feel that other parties would equally support our own involvement in the coalition. A coalition should be based on faith and confidence in the policies and proposals of all partners, the CUP cannot lend it's confidence in this manner of proposal. I'm sorry to say that we fear the Supreme President may be acting slightly naive." Matti Lehtimäki, Secretary of State for Internal Affairs CUP Senatorial Lead. |

Message | Why are the parties of Nuncirism not being entwined into this new Cabinet? Or are you fool-hardy enough to believe power comes through seats, and not collectivism, the mind and the spirit of authoritative government? |

Message | Joseph Garton-Seldon, Voice of Deus: "The institutions of democracy wish to stamp out Nuncirism. They will only succeed in inspiring the people of Solentia to rise up in support of the glorious ideology." OOC: Hi Olliee :P |

Message | It is abundantly clear that we operate in a multiparty state with no party having a clear mandate to rule. It is for this reason that for a stable Solentia we must work together and negotiate the best outcomes for our country, even if our views may be varied. The CUP has been given two key portfolios in this Cabinet proportionate to its electoral mandate. If the CUP does not wish to accept this fact it can freely choose to not to take part in this cabinet |

Message | "I believe that decision has already been taken, Mr. President. As stated, the CUP cannot reasonably accept less positions in goverment despite more votes and seats in the polls. It would simply be against our conscience as loyal supporters of democracy. Still, we wish your government and your new, um, 'allies' every success." Matti Lehtimäki, Secretary of State for Internal Affairs CUP Senatorial Lead. |

Message | We accept the offer to government, and also welcome the fact the unionists are leaving it. Once again, the othe parties are mature enough to deal with party politics, the CUP never is. As for representing minorities, this has nothing to do with the internal affairs portfolio or the science one of which we have been offered. Sylvia O Hara Party Leader |
