Message | The SDLP cannot support Article 2 of this bill, we believe that this would lead to the destabilisation and fracturing of the unions as well as their ability to operate in a democratic, cohesive fashion. We would fully support a revised bill leaving out article 2. Regards, Allan Krom SDLP Trade and Industry Spokesperson |

Message | With respect to Mr. Krom, Article 2 is in fact a step to protect union members and their respective trade union from over bureaucratic regulation by the Ministry of Trade & Industry. By requiring a drawn out voting session in which the union is forced to abide by a federal arbitrator who in fact in may indeed be a corporate bourgeoisie appointee by a reactionary force, the union risks its ability to competitively play in the business world. This unnecessary regulation only allows businesses more time to crush union attempts and to replace workers with scabs. Also, most unions require a vote regardless of the law as it is written into their electoral process. Should that be broken, a union member may report such activity and work from within the union to amend the issue. Unions are a highly democratic force and can be trusted to regulate themselves. Ultimately, I hope that you will see that this is nothing more than an attempt to keep the workers from winning their battles. FIP Senator Marc Vetal |

Random fact: "Treaty-locking", or ratifiying treaties that completely or nearly completely forbid any proposals to change laws, is not allowed. Amongst other possible sanctions, Moderation reserves the discretion to delete treaties and/or subject parties to a seat reset if this is necessary in order to reverse a treaty-lock situation. |
