Message | The SDLP strongly opposes this bill which violates the Solentian peoples right to think for themselves. It will also damage our international reputation as a country of fairness and freedom We live in a diverse society and such legislation could lead to significant civil unrest. If this legislation passes we will seek an electoral mandate to repeal it immediately after the next election. Sandra Baines SDLP Spokesperson for Internal Affairs |
Date | 14:59:16, August 16, 2010 CET | From | Sue's Corner | To | Debating the Religious Bill |
Message | Sandra, it is about time we started acting and behaving in a moral fashion. The only way we can behave morally, is to have a religion guide our moral compasses. Abortion, expecting people to pay for the poor rather than earn themselves, gay marriage, the list goes on. We ignore the bible and religious teachings, in order for us to do what we like or to pass it off as 'liberal.' The state is now too liberal and we need to get back to our roots of religion and morality. Coleen Power Religious Spokesperson |

Message | As the SDLP refuses to force it's large faction of secular members to join the National Mandatory Religion we would like to seek clarity as to whether we will banned as a party for following our convictions. SDLP Grasroots Membership |
