It is a terrible shame when the television tells people what to buy what to eat. It is an even greater shame when it lies to them and what they buy is damaged or poisonous. Message | Free speech is the basis of free society. We thought an organization like the RSWP would support such a notion. Why don't they change their names to the Rutanian Fascist Party? |

Message | TSP would like to remind the RSWP that nobody forces the citizens of the Commonwealth to watch the television. Perhaps the energies of the RSWP would be better spent in forwarding "turn off the TV"-style commercials for the benefit of viewers. There is no reason to interfere with a totally optional and unnecessary institution for entertainment purposes. Those who work to keep the stations running deserve to make a living, do they not? |

Message | And if the people cannot air their views because they cannot afford to compete with the television and radio programs and ads of the oligarchy? It's all fine to bandy about terms like 'free speech' when you have money and can afford to buy your rights, but when you are among the working poor, life is a little different. This bill however is not about freedom of speech, it is about advertising. In most civilized countries it is illegal to deliberately lie to the populace. This is not the case in Rutania. Here, an oligopoly owns nearly entire the media and they use it to sell dangerous goods to the public. We seek only to right this particular wrong. This is not extremism or fascism, it is justice. |
