Debate
These messages have been posted to debate on this bill:
Date | 10:11:44, September 06, 2010 CET | From | Constitutionalist Imperial League (IA) | To | Debating the Apartheid Act of September 2995 |
Message | Mr Speaker, We understand that this piece of policy is very important to our most honorable friends in the Nationalist Party. However, since the deactivation of the Luthorian Reactionary Movement, the Constitutionalist Imperial League is short of most of its board governors and thus can only propose and vote for legislation that is strongly supported by a large majority of both faction members if not bipartisan. The League is polarized by this act, with the Utagian Loyalist Caucus opposing it and the Geharon Conservative Party supporting it. Since neither of the CIL's member parties have the political power necessary to force their opinion on the other, we simply cannot vote on this issue at present and will be forced to abstain. We strongly encourage the NPL to re propose this bill after the next League election (which coincides with the national parliamentary election) so that our parliamentary group may voice its opinion on this important matter. Of course, the way other members of the Imperial Alliance vote might influence league politics in a manner that is sufficient to force a vote but it is no sure thing. I yield. |
Date | 00:31:45, September 07, 2010 CET | From | Alliance of Social Democrats | To | Debating the Apartheid Act of September 2995 |
Message | Mr. Speaker, The Alliance of Social Democrats protests this act of barbarians. Whatever happened to civilized society? Whatever happened to equality before the law? Segregation will send our nation back to the past, and will forever create division among our people. Should a bill of this nature ever pass, with the support of the Imperial Alliance, our party will have no choice but to depart from the IA. We demand that an official from the Imperial Alliance come forth and denounce this absurdity. I yield. |
