Message | We will vote no on this bill, for the following reasons: - Article 1: The PRPP does not believe the state should involve itself in this very personal affair. Even a very liberal policy, like the one the PRNP is proposing, still accepts the premise that the state has the final authority to declare who may marry whom. We do not believe this to be the case. - Article 2: While we agree that people's perversions are their own affairs, there is still the well-being of the animal to consider. As this proposal has no provisions in this regard, we cannot vote in favour. - Article 3: A balance must always be struck between the right to privacy of the individual and the right to safety of others. The current law finds, in our opinion, a very wise middle ground. We see no need to alter it. |
