Bill: GM Research Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Ecotopian Party of Kalistan
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2140
Description[?]:
In a recent poll, 58.8% of the population indicated that they wanted restrictions on Genetically Modified foods in one form or another. While we don't necessarily think this goes far enough, we are willing to follow the lead of the electorate and hope that this compromise will also suit other parties. |

Message | Our people are allowed to eat GM; but won't be able to make it. How's that logical? |
Date | 14:19:39, November 14, 2005 CET | From | Ecotopian Party of Kalistan | To | Debating the GM Research Act |
Message | If you knew anything about crop production, you would know that it is logical. Farmers who oppose GM are concerned that neighbouring GM fields will "infect" their crops with the modifications, as wind and water have been shown to spread GM crops over considerable distances. We are protecting our ecology by not growing them. If people want to take the risk, they still can, but not growing them here means that you can be confident that Kalistani products are safe. |
