Message | There are two issues at stake with GM foods, one is 'ownership' of plant genetic code meaning farmers have to buy seed of the same company every year, creating a dangerous monopoly. The other is doubts as to their safety - this bill would allow research to determine whether these doubts are true whilst avoiding the potential dangers |

Message | I disagree with the aspect of creating a monopoly. Companies will compete to create better code than their competitors. Its no different for the rest of the items created by companies. If one company finds it first, they own it. Safety is indeed an issue in this. We agree with the Worker's Alliance on this point. The Roman Imperialist Party will take a firm stance later, we abstain for now. |

Message | What is the point of researching GM crops if you cannot sell them? And I agree with the Roman Imperialist party; seperate companies will compete to make the best GM products. On top of that, some people will still prefer to buy non-GM products, such as some people prefer to buy organic products. |
