Description[?]:

(OOC: I've had this in my mind for a while, and I've decided to do it at last. To cut a long story short URA is over, but I wanted to end it I a slightly more spectacular way than just posting a message saying my policy position is changing.)

Jas Spieke's life of late had been somewhat difficult. There were a lot of murmurs throughout the party of wanting to get rid of him. A large section of the party thought of him as a bit past it. As yet there had been no attempts to remove him but he knew it was coming. And that wasn't his only worry. The URA's finances of late had been somewhat dire to say the least. The fact that the party treasurer Barry Gold wouldn't shut up about it didn't help, and nor did the fact that the party's money worries were public domain. The investigation into who it was that leaked the two embarrasing emails turned up nothing.

But right now that wasn't Spieke's main concern. He was about to give his speech to the party conference. With all that had been going on, he knew that this was probably the speech that would either save or help end his career. As much as he hoped for the former, the odds, and the opinion of the party, were heavily against him.

But there was no time to be thinking about all of that now. The conference hall was packed out with at least 8,000 people. As he heard his name called out and the applause (though no standing ovation, from the party membership at least) everything seemed to go into slow motion. He shook hands with the party member who had introduced him, he faced the audience. Everyone in the room was stewing at him, almost as if to find any chinks in his armour. The nerves were rising within him, but he knew that he couldn't show it. This was it.

It was rather unfortunate that at that precise moment the timer on the bomb hidden under the podium on which he now stood counted down to zero.

MessageOur sincere condolences to the Spieke family, and to the families and friends of those who was killed by this at of terrorism. Union Socialism Alliance heavily condemns such actions, and, even if this is most definitely an isolated event, wants a thourough investigation by the Department of Justice.

MessageOOC: Whilst playing at Nazism has been kinda fun it got old fairly quickly for me. I now plan to move to a more moderate capitalist position, sort of SCI but slightly more socially liberal. If anyone else with slightly more willingness to stick it out wants a crack at being far right, be my guest.

MessageThe priority from here on in must be to find and punish those who committed murder. We call on the full resources of the state to be put towards this goal, with no consideration made for whether or not we agreed with the politics of the victim.

The first people we would like to see questioned:

Speike's family: to see if there are leads here.
The URA party finances
Dissenters within the URA
Prominent anti-fascists

MessageWe agree with RMS.

OOC: So is the A&L party a totally new ? Or is it a complete overhaul of URA? It did garner it's seats with URA's policy, so it kinda was URA.

MessageOOC: Economically its kinda similar. It wont be quite so free market as URA was, but will be of the inflation > unemployment school of thinking of neo liberal Thatcherism. Socially it will be totally the opposite of URA and will be libertarian with all but a few exceptions re drugs.

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current.

Random quote: "[The Constitution preserves] the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation...[where] the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms." - James Madison
