Message | Rt Hon Viscount Holding MP, Leader of the Opposition, Mr Speaker, local governments should be setting the hiring policies in their local areas. After all they know the make-up of the local population and as such should regulate the hiring of workers as they see fit. We ge exceptions in Hutori that sometimes minorities in the state are majorities in certain constituencies and local government needs to have the tools at their disopsal to find as many citizens of the state jobs as they can. Mr Speaker, the local government is becoming more influential in peoples lives. Let us give them the power to truly make an impact in the Hutorian peoples working lives as well! |

Message | Hon Marcus Aston MP, Leader of the Liberal Party Mr Speaker, discrimination is not acceptable in any circumstances. This legislation threatens to bring back horrors such as all-White swimming pools. Therefore, we must vote against. |

Message | Mr Speaker, i dont know what parrallel universe the Liberal Leader lives in! Perhaps he can elaborate this whenever current segregation laws ban any form of segregated institution? This Bill is about the hiring of workers. Local Councils are contested by the national parties and not one is inheritantly racist so what exactly is the honorable gentleman on about? |

Message | Rt Hon Marcus Aston MP, Leader of the Opposition (OOC: Not for long no doubt) Mr Speaker, at any instant a xenophobic movement could pick up support in a local area and use this law to actively discriminate against minorities. We confess, segregated swimming pools would not be legal. But the staff could all be hired on a discriminatory policy, and we don't want to take that risk. This is a law that should be decided by the national government, to prevent local indiscretion. |

Message | Rt Hon Viscount Holding, Prime Minister, Mr Speaker, firstly it is good to be back on the benches where this great political party belongs. We thank the Imperial Democrats for their agreeing to a coalition and we look forward to a progressive government with them. Secondly i should remind the Honorable member opposite, Mr Aston, that he is not Leader of the Opposition - that is a post given to the CLP as they are the largest political party outside of the government. Now to the issue Mr Speaker, is that there are no xenophobic movements currently in Hutori. We do recognise that a potentially discriminatory policy could be enacted by local governments but this is a highly unlikely situation. However who are we as political parties to question the people? If they are inheritantly racist then there is nothing we can do. We know the people of Hutori to be largely tolerant and we as a party are placing our trust in the people. Local Governments are meant to act responsibly and remember they are subject to the people electing them also so irresponsible local governance is not going to be an issue. Mr Speaker, we acknowledge the Liberal Parties concerns and we answer them. We have more than suitably answered all their queries with this piece of legislation and we believe that devolution of powers to local governments is the right way for the people of this nation to be governed. |
