| Message | Rt Hon Viscount Hardy, Finance Minister, Mr Speaker, the Conservative Party proposes cutting taxes for lower earners and raising taxes on higher earners. We should stress to all parties that any rises/decreases in tax levels are only by two or three percent either way. This is not a radical overhaul of the Hutorian tax system. Mr Speaker, the thinking behind the proposed system is that higher earners must pay their fair share contributing to the Hutorian state. It is unfair and unjustifyable that the lower working classes should be paying high levels of taxation on their earnings. Mr Speaker, we believe in social mobility and working class people need to have every chance of advancing in Hutori at present. We believe lifting income tax burdens as a way forward. Mr Speaker, we hope our government colleagues recognise that this taxation Bill is in the best interests for the wider Hutorian public and vote with us on this Bill. |
