Message | Mr. Speaker, This is actually surprising. A perfectly competitive market model is based upon the destruction of barriers to entry into the market. Copyrights, patents, trademarks, etc are all barriers to entry. By getting rid of the barriers to entry, people can take a technology and make it better. Thus, the consumer is the ultimate winner. I yield. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, But shouldn't those that developed groundbreaking ideas and ways to better production have a right to that for themselves? We agree with the stance of the Republican Party in respect to the articles. I yield. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Copyrights hurt the consumer, as they hinder innovation. Innovation is the key to the capitalist system. Without it, the people are plagued by monopolies that violate the market by charging outrageous prices. I yield. |
