Bill: The Solentian Power Grid Security Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Labour Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 3074

Description[?]:

We are reintroducing the Power Grid Security Act.

As before, we believe that since nationalized companies provide the energy itself, it would be most efficient to nationalize the grid itself, too.

We believe in a free market. But some things that are the very staples that hold our society together cannot be left to the volatility of the market. This is a proposal to guarantee the safety of the power supply.

Not all corporations that run the grid are equal. They have different amounts of manpower and resources. Since different parts of the grid are currently owned by different companies, different parts of the grid may perform better than others, which could potentially mean some areas have less reliable power than others. This renders certain areas of Solentia vulnerable to power failure, and leaves them less prosperous and less competitive economically.

MessageIt makes little sense to have several different firms try to attend to several different parts of the grid for repairs, servicing and upgrading. It makes more sense to streamline the operation so that any crew can deploy anywhere to perform work on maintaining the grid.

The very power supply that drives Solentia's economies, powers our homes and small businesses, our churches, our marketplaces and places of work should function as efficiently as possible.

Random quote: "'The illusion of Pontesi nationhood'. The Serpent speaks. How can they say these things? How can they call our country an illusion? You can see it clear as day, these people won’t stop until they’ve destroyed us all." - Morgan Einar, former Pontesian general
