Message | *from the floor of the Senate* We agree with much of this proposal in the interest of national economic expansion and workers' protections. However, even we cannot support such a drastic decrease in the retirement age. If the CPS will amend the bill to lower it to 65 or leave it as is, then this bill will see our support. Message | "Mr. Premier, The CPS sees a drastically lowered retirement age as essential to the health and happiness of the working man. From the age of eighteen, we ask Solentians to be productive and profitable until they are sixty-six years old. During that time, they are worked and worked and worked, all in the name of economic growth. It is essential that Solentians be allowed to relax before they are too old and frail to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Also, by narrowing the working population, the unemployment level will be cut. I urge the SDPS to support and yield the floor." Sheila Harrison, Minister of Internal Affairs, CPS Chairman |

Message | *Debating this bill with the CPS in the Senate* Chariman Harrison, I couldn't agree more with the vast majority of what you stated. As you know, the sanctity of retirement is a solid plank in our platform. It was even the subject of our first bill we ever proposed. We just don't know if 60 is affordable to the state pension system. We will support if it is lowered to 63, but not less. Workers will be far worse off if their pension fund runs dry than they would if they had received a later pension payment. We have to balance the budget as well, and we support lowering the retirement age. That is our position. I yield back. President Ryan Fay Social Democratic Chancellor |

Message | "Mr. Premier, The CPS can no longer edit this bill, as it has gone to debate. Even if we could, we would not. Other changes included in this legislation which would drastically increase the minimum wage from 'subsistence' to levels which would support a family of four above the poverty line would increase the amount of money available to workers for investment, savings, or pension plans. The burden of supporting a younger retirement age would fall on the corporate oppressors, not on the government. If there remains a deficit, the funding ought to be drawn through corporation tax, or luxury sales tax. The financial viability of happiness and health of Solentian citizens cannot be allowed to overpower the necessity of it. We will fight for the right of Solentian workers! I yield." Sheila Harrison |

Message | As much as we are disappointed with that large of a decrease, we believe the good outweighs our concerns about it. We vote affirmative, and I yield back. Senator Ryan Fay Social Democratic Chancellor |
Date | 05:43:04, February 14, 2011 CET | From | Conservative Party of Solentia | To | Debating the SR 013: Worker's Defense Act of 3076 |
Message | "Mr. Premier, The CPS applauds the SDPS' commitment to the rectification of the plight of the working Solentian. Surely this commitment will bear fruits at the voter box next election. I yield." Sheila Harrison |
