Bill: Sneaky Advertising Prohibition Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Movement for Universal Democracy

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 3084

Description[?]:

Marketing techniques have evolved significantly and, in recent years, coupled themselves to psychology and psychoanalysis in order to determine how to get the average citizen to buy a good he doesn't want, can't afford and has no use for.

As a party striving for social justice and economic efficiency, we indentify this as a source of injustice, exploitation and inefficiency, as people use borrowed money to buy something they don't want or need. With this bill, we propose the regulation of the advertising industry.

MessageWe believe that consumers are smart enough to make their own decisions when it comes to choosing what products to buy, and so see this as unwarranted government interference in the free market.

MessageWe fully support this legislation, and would even propose that only governmental advertising or no advertising be allowed in this country. Advertising is deceptive, condescending, and insulting, as as consumers of television, the Socialist Party will move to eliminate lies and outright deception from advertising as soon as possible.
