Message | OOC: Okay here goes:the particracy economics component of the game mechanics was never fully implemented in game. Because of that, the only way to achieve sustained economic growth in particracy is to run a deficit. This is why there is £ 210bn in the finance ministry. It's not actually used, its just there to have economic growth. In fact, for in game purposes, we disregard the amount allocated to the finance ministry since its purely for OOC reasons. Indeed, the Luthori Constitution obliges a balanced budget. If you take away the 210bn from finance, you will see that we have a slight budget surplus. IC: Mr Speaker, Health and education are not responsibilities of the Imperial government thus it makes absolutely no sense for them to be funded by it. Furthermore, given the fact that the Luthori Empire has some of the largest colonial holdings of all Terra, the current military budget is absolutely essential to assure the protection of our overseas holdings and the millions of Luthorians who live there. Our defense budget is comparable to that of the other great powers, Greater Hulstria and Zardugal. Therefore, any changes are unnecessary and even potentially dangerous when it comes to defense. I yield. |

Message | *Professor in economics and Minister of Finance Josephine Gripenwald rises to speak* Mr Speaker As current Minister of Finance are the EAP very interested in cutting government spendings, but it has to be done in a professional way and not run by a barely existing anarchistic party. The EAP is ready to begin a debate about taxes and spendings. But it is a debate which includes the cabinet parties only. The EAP reserves itself from a non-chamber debate in such important matters as economics and the Imperial budget. I yield *EAP chamber members applauds and cheers* |
