Bill: Proposal of a Radical Government

Details

Submitted by[?]: Socialist Party of Kalistan (SPoK)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 3111

Description[?]:

Given the failure of the Patriot government and their inability to prevent even the changing of the name of our system's legislature, allow me to propose a compromise government that removes them from power entirely, and trusts power to the top two vote getters in the recent election.

As per the principle of separation of powers, the Head of Government should go to the largest party who does not control head of state. Hence it goes to the Libertarians. And to show our commitment to diverse opinion in policy making, we also propose that they take every other major seat except foreign affairs. This proposal is fair, and it is solid, and mixed government with a diverse amount of ideas may be precisely what this country needs.

Each Party is free to continue to vote as it sees fit, but it is time, at long last for a change.

MessageConvince me: Why should we, the libertarians, who love freedom, be in a government with a psuedo-socialist, freedom-hating and ultra radical party?

MessageBecause we are the most socially libertarian Party in this country. Our long record of votes have attested to that. While we may not see eye to eye on economic matters, the Socialist Party has long been opposed to ANY limitations to individual liberty. Doing what we like, saying what we like, limiting police presence, not getting our country involved in wars, supporting reciprocal trade agreements, fostering international friendship agreements, you name it, the Socialist Party has been there. Look at my voting record.

In the end you will do as you please. I won't beg. If we can't get something together on the government, the Patriots remain in power. So it's up to you. Either join us in government, or join them. Fact is, you can't rule on your own. And to be completely honest, the Patriots have voted for more of your bills since the election than we have. But they have run this country into the ground. The have tried to start no less than two separate wars, they have limited civil liberties, and they are no closer to you than we are on economic issues (see for example: the power grid bill...) We would have proposed them if we thought they would have accepted it, and not you, but they insist on running the entire government themselves, so you were the next best choice to getting the Patriots out of government.

Vote yes or no. At least you can count on us to be honest.

MessagePlus, we have the plurality. You spoke in the other bill about listening to the voice of the people. If you don't, then it really doesn't matter what you say else where. You may as well vote for the other cabinet bill.

MessageWell, the Patriots are incredibly arrogant, and I think that they having the government for another term is wrong. We got 15 million more votes than the Patriots, our leader Guido Galtvang was an inch away from becoming President.
However, the people need political differences, and a stark choice, and I think we should be careful blurring the line between right and left here. Maybe we should just call snap elections.

MessageForget it: We just had an election." You said "The Patriotic Rebellion is outrageously ignoring the will of the people." on the floor of THIS VERY LEGISLATURE, not 15 minutes ago.

Time to put up or shut up. You don't know that the Socialists refuse to compromise. You don't know that sharing government is a horrible thing. Either you stand with the will of the people, who gave the Socialists the plurality in the last elections, and on the second ballot, the Presidency of the Republic, or you don't. The decision is yours to make. I can't promise you won't regret it, but at least you'll be consistent. Subversion of the will of the people through an early election is just that, subversion, and you will never have the legitimacy to call the Socialists "freedom hating" or "ultra radical" again.

MessageAlright.

Forget it. You're right. There is no reason to support this proposal anymore. We can't sit in government with a Party that holds us in such utter contempt without knowing a single thing about what we stand for. But the Patriots are correct: You are a brand new Party and really don't know what you are doing with regard to legislature. Your proposals are so radical that you can't even get the Patriots on board with half of them. We were prepared to give you a chance, but you misperceive your importance to this Republic. Let's see where your Party is at in a few elections. I guarantee it, we will still be holding your votes against you in our campaigns.

And don't talk about the will of the people anymore. It is hypocritical.

MessageLet's clarify something. The Patriotic Rebellion is by far the best goverment passed in Kalistan.Right now,we have one of the best economies in the world with one of the smallest deficits in Terra. Our reforms in every sector were satisfying and effective. The welfars system is now better, the educational reforms deducted private education and gave opportnity to poor people get educated and study in universities. The infrastructure is now a matter of local goverments letting them choose what buildings are needed, which supported the infrastructure of smallest cities and even villages and avoiding that our young people are leaving their homelands to find a job and a place to live. The devolution of the park policy to local goverments has made our parks look nicer and more appropiate to the local needs. The goverment has also the initiative to give funds to local goverments in order to build and maitain a system of museums nationwide and protect our historical sights and in the same time increase tourism rates. Our enviromentally friendly development is also someting that must be noted. Our foreign policy has been excellent. With the ratification of treaties we have increased the credit of our country to the foreigners. The only thing that we regret is our desire for war with Valruzia and the Commonwealth of Vorona. But these wars didn't happen. All in all,you can't say socialists friends that our goverment has failed cause your socialist ideas actually have lowered our peoples' civil liberties.Just watch out when you speak everyone.

MessageTo our friends the Patriots,

The goal of this country is and always has been to abolish the demon hold that capitalism has on society.

It is true: we have to admit that under your government, progress has been made. After all, you completely abolished any republican oversight of daycares, allowing them to be run by pedophiles and child abusers if they so wished, in the name of profit. You have single handedly been responsible for the dramatic increase in income disparity and the abject impoverishment of millions of Kalistanis, while a few thousand became dramatically richer under your Party's administration. That is progress, of a sort.

Our hope is that one day, when the poor and the starving that your administration has created come demanding a redistribution of wealth by force, your Party has long gone defunct so that you may be spared the rage of millions of Kalistanis who have had their rights abolished under your Party's watch, in a process which continues to this day (most recently and egregiously, with your abolition of the ODEN and forbidding drug use, creating a nation of criminals out of previously law abiding citizens. I hope you and your Party have divested themselves of their investments in prisons, lest it create the appearance of conflict of interest.

Hopefully, you realize the error of this policy and relax your war on the poor in our nation. But, given the influx of new rightists, I trust that I probably shouldn't hold my breath.
