Description[?]:

Working to balance the budget the next budget year
The reason for the large drop in education and health care spending, is because of the huge progress that has been made by the private sector in these two fields. They were made possible by remarkably good results with the people finding their own Health Maintenance Organization.

MessageWhy do you still insist we increase defense spending?

Given the wild success of Socialist Cooperatives in the Alternative economy, we might be interested in supporting this package otherwise, except for the entirely unjustifiable 33% increase in the Defense budget while cutting funds for EVERY OTHER Department except that of the Head of Government (Why do they require a raise either to almost DOUBLE their previous allotment of the public money?)

We insist that the Finance Minister make an attempt to justify that entirely unnecessary increase in spending, or we will immediately propose legislation that calls for an investigation into the Libertarian Party's monetary ties to Defense industries. Need we remind the Finance Minister, that the Defense industry has been privatized and is NOT subsidized by the government, so we think it is sparks of graft, given the lack of any war or security crisis here in Kalistan, for the defense budget to be increased by a third! This, combined with a massive influx of money to the President of the Republic, is gross misappropriation of public money and is scandalous.

MessageMinister of Finance George Isaak:

I do not have to stand here and listen to groundless accusations in the Assembly, from the party that promotes socialist revolution. We want to make this country safer, in part from your savage army. We cannot refrain from having an army, even at peacetime, simply because it is peacetime.

As for the increase in Head of government spending, the travelling costs of the office have increased significantly, with rising oil prices. It is just unforeseen costs. Also, I do not consider 800,000 rubles a massive amount.

MessageWe have no savage Army. We have disbanded our militia, and ordered them to stand down, even before your Government made it illegal for us to defend Kalistan against oppressive government. (See: People's News Network: "Socialist Militia formally deactivates: All Party members called to arm themselves" for a discussion on the deactivation of the militia in accord with the law which hadn't even passed at the time.) We did that years ago. Seems like you need to check with your minister of Justice and Minister of the Interior and ask them how many socialists have violated your Government's lousy laws. I am sure you will find the threat of a "socialist revolution" as you envision it to be a red herring, and just an excuse to keep the military and the overarmed police in our streets, when no threat actually exists except in the imagination of the Government.

We do not oppose having a military. What we oppose is needlessly increasing the Defense budget time after time when our current military is more than enough for any security challenges we face. If the Libertarians would just join us in sending the military back to the barracks instead of keeping them playing an active role in limitation of Kalistani Liberty, perhaps you could even CUT the Defense budget, to reflect a more limited, and therefore proper role in Kalistani Society.

As for the increase to the Head of Government Budget, we think that nearly doubling the budget just for increased travel expenditures is a bit excessive, but we have no further comment on that number. If GAO says it is necessary, we will not stand in the way of that provision.

MessageThe bottom four areas should be protected in the next budget as they do not necessarily rely on the private sector.
