Message | To explain my answer, I feel that nuclear power is a promosing source of energy. It is both clean and efficient, and I feel the consumer will respond to the superiority of nuclear power by abandoning weaker power supplies, like coal. |

Message | Nuclear power is a potentially dangerous source of power. Shouldn't it be left to the surrounding people whether or not they want to take that risk? |

Message | Only if unregulated is it dangerous |

Message | My beef is with leaving it unregulated is this: a nuclear powerplant can buy land and setup shop anywhere without the consent of the surrounding residents. Given the fact that there could be a meltdown, and that we still don't understand radiation and nuclear processes entirely, the locals should have a say in whether or not they want to subject their bodies to that risk. That's why i proposed this bill. Otherwise, for the most part, i agree with letting the market ride. |

Message | A meltdown, like Three Mile Island? One excess fatal cancer? No identifiable injuries due to radiation? Real horrible |

Random quote: "The first step in freeing yourself from social restrictions is the realization that there is no such thing as a 'safe' code of conduct, one that would earn everyone's approval. Your actions can always be condemned by someone, for being too bold or too apathetic, for being too conformist or too nonconformist, for being too liberal or too conservative. So it's necessary to decide whose approval is important to you." - Harry Browne |
