Bill: Military Composition
Details
Submitted by[?]: Protectorate Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2198
Description[?]:
Previously the Assembly voted to determine out military makeup. As the assembly has undergone a tremendous change since that time we present this for reconsideration. The basis of our military was a defensive force as listed below. Army: We have very few ground troops. We have a militia of sorts which can be mobilized when we are invaded, and a few standing units scattered about our borders. Nothing to enable invasion of another nation unless it had next to no military and the citizens welcomed us. Navy: Our navy is focused on patrol of our waters and the destruction of opposing invasion force. To that end we have invested heavily in subs, and have some fast surface vessels with some fire power predominately against aircrafts, but no large floating fortresses. Air Force: Again little combat forces. We possess some surveillance aircraft and communication aids, and a few planes to combat bombers but nothing to gain air superiority. We are focused instead on land and sea based anti-aircraft weapons. Our strategy was to do our best to keep invaders from our soil and in the event we failed nuke their nation and anything we can without destroying our homeland. |

Message | We feel that inorder to win a defensive war we must gain air and naval superiority. To this existant we feel that building a massive navy and home air force is to our advantage. |

Message | This is where our geographic location serves us well. With non-agression pacts with our northern neighbors, we need to focus on the sea. If we use our subs to sink the navy of the opposition they will not be able to land, or bring their air support in. |

Message | This seems reasonable. Our nuclear-armed subs should be sufficient deterrent against any invasion attempt. |

Message | Ahhh poop, fine then we'll go build our own big ass Battleship so we can go fishing from it and scare small native islands. |

Message | OOC: if your good maybe Santa (or S.A.N.T.A) will bring you one. or we can have a few older models from before we regeared the navy for underwater operations. |

Message | I think, We should Focus in Aircraft carriers to make some "moblie" air bases incase of an invading land force. |

Message | I propose making a strong Air Force one of our nation's highest priorities. From the perspective of a new player to the nation, this is our biggest impediment. |

Message | As the militarist party, we feel that superiority in all levels are required. Non-Aggression Pacts may go far, however must we remind the assembly the countless times in history when promises weren't kept? We propose a standing army of 2 million people with Army HQ in Walkunia Province. We propose a standing navy of 2 million people with Navy HQ in Dendars Province. We propose a standing air force of 2 million people wirh Air Force HQ in Washibar Province. This amounts to a total personnel of 6 million armed servicemen which is still less than 10% of the population. |

Message | It is a sad reality that in order to win any defensive war we must asure we will prevail in any offensive war. There is no need for a grand ground army, but there is a pressing need to enforce air superiority, since this is the initial stage of any attack. The investments in an underwater navy will prove quite usefull in the unfortunate event of a war. But it is a question stretching down to the deepest of our ethical responsabilities to decide f we should be able to invade another nation, and complete this invasion. We believe that being able to do that is an imperative requirement to survive in todays world. |
Date | 08:07:27, February 08, 2006 CET | From | Malivianese Militarist Party | To | Debating the Military Composition |
Message | We agree a great ground force is unnecessary, however we must also recognize the vast amount of ground troops required to maintain a defensive posture and security within the nation and on our vessels. In the event of an offensive strike, this force will allow our homeland to remain protected despite the requirement of ground troops needed for an assault. |
Date | 18:30:39, February 10, 2006 CET | From | Social Democrat League | To | Debating the Military Composition |
Message | Excessive ground forces are useless if we don't have the air force to back them up. In this age of modern warfare, I think we can all agree that air control is vital in any offensive or defensive conflict. A navy is also required, as we are a nation with 3/4 of the border coastlines. |
Date | 05:47:38, February 12, 2006 CET | From | Protectorate Party | To | Debating the Military Composition |
Message | a strong air force requires a large sum of money to keep it competitive. We would rather see those funds go to other uses. It is far better to try and keep most aircraft away from our lands through keeping the enemy from coming close to our shores. |

Message | again just clearing it out of debate. |

Message | This miltitary is way too soft. |

Random fact: It is possible for a player to transfer ownership of a character or a royal house to another player. This should be done in a public way, such as on the Character Transfers thread, so that if a dispute arises in the future, Moderation can be pointed towards evidence of the transfer. |
