Bill: Contraception and Pregnancy Part 1 - MCP002.01
Details
Submitted by[?]: Moderate Conservative Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 3164
Description[?]:
This bill seeks to resolve concerns regarding late-term abortions, in that the development of a fetus nearing the end of the second trimester is sufficient for the fetus to survive birth. Abortion, given the level of development being sufficient to sustain life, should no longer be an option into the latter half of the second trimester. HOWEVER, should there be a medical reason that the abortion must take place, such as a significant risk of death to both mother and child, then the medical procedure shall fall under the current legislative amendment regarding medical emergencies and abortions. Furthermore, this bill seeks to provide means of contraception for the general public of Egelion. By providing methods of birth control at a discounted, or even free cost to individual citizens, unwanted pregnancies can be avoided in the first place. This reduces the need for abortions to resolve unwanted pregnancies, as well as lessening the overall social burden of pregnancies to those who were not sufficiently prepared for childbearing. |

Random fact: Voters have an extra appreciation for bills that actually get passed, so if you want to maximally take profit from your votes, make sure you compromise with others. |
Random quote: "It is obvious that the laissez-faire ideology represents the interests of big business. For decades, the right-wing has opposed welfare programs and nationalised companies, in favour of big business disguised under 'economic liberty'." - Cecilia Xu, former Gaduri politician |
