Bill: Identity Cards
Details
Submitted by[?]: Conservative Party of Telamon
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2049

Unlike the more radical idea, we should hand out Identity Cards to our citizens. They would not be required to carry them, but it would get rid of any illegals, or possible spies rummaging in the country. |

Proposal[?] to change Government-issued identity card policy.
Old value:: Citizens are not issued with identity cards.
Current: All citizens are issued with identity cards but are not required to carry them.

Message | How would the printing of some cards prevent spies? You know, military intelligence agencies are quite capable of copying any card you can make. And it is those who send spies. And if people are not required to carry your cards, the spies could just say they don' t want one. Besides it is a waste of taxpayer's money. If somebody want's an identity card, they can obtain one from their bank (or any of the other private id-sellers). The only people who would have ID-s with this proposal and don't have one already are the ones who don't want an ID, or don't think it is worth the cost. Why should we force them to buy something they don't want? |

Message | 1. They would be government issued for one thing. 2. If they were barcoded, it would be much harder, as it would be a database, they'd have to hack. 3. As read, they would be mandatory. Can you put a price on safety? ;p |

Message | 1. That's a bad. 2. They'd just take the number from an existing citizen. That is not hard. We have such a system in Sweden, and college kids regularly make fake ID-s. 3. I did notice that. It is a bad too. Yes, and on a negligible increase in safety I put a very low price. |

Message | 1. Why? 2. You can put a number on it...and if it's barcoded, it is impossible to make a fake ID, as once it is tested, it is either in the databse or it is not. So if a person took someones ID, alot of questions will rise up. 3. Of course it is, sweety. Oh yes....i forgot that you are all for civil rights, regardles of the safety involved. I keep forgetting, how thoughtless you can be...excuse me, I am Candian. XD (i luvd that commerical) Well technically I'm Israeli...so i guess that explains alot more eh? Any wise cracks, on our "occupation"? and "maltreatment" on the innocent "Palestinians" as well? |

Message | 1. Because you waste tax money on something that can be done as well or better without. 2. Like what questions. You just have to copy somebody's who is similar to you in the respects shown by the ID (and change the picture to yours). Not hard. You would get a little further with biometric information, but even then there are many people who can use the same ID. And, no I don't make jokes about the occupation. But a large numberof people would be a lot happier if they'd target the not so innocent palestinians a bit better. |

Message | TCP: You are wrong. A comprehensive database of everyone in the state is of great help to a police state, but no use to a free state, so for all advocates of liberty big censuses (such as would be needed for this) is a bad. |
