Bill: Education Reform
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberaldemokratische Partei
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 3207
Description[?]:
Members of the Bundestag, the LDP thinks that our school system must focus on the individual skills of every child. Therefore, we demand the abolition of standardized testing in favor of focusing on student creativity. Such a system would meet the individual demands of every single child better than the current system. Secondly, we propose to repeal the obligation to sing the national anthem at the commencement of each school day. Patriotism is certainly a good thing, but should never be compulsory. Thirdly, we want to leave the pre-school education to the private sector in order offer parents a wider range of nurseries to choose from. - Dr. Herbert Underberg, LDP Spokesman for Education |

Message | Altough we agree on the fact that siging the national anthem every morning is a bit superfluous, and we certainly feel that student creativity should be encouraged, we can not agree on the fact that pre-school is left to the private sector. Education is something that naturally belongs in the hands of the government, ofcourse private schools should be legal but there should always be the option to go to the independent state schools. We feel that this also counts for the pre-school education. It is a pity that we can not further debate this matter cause voting is in act already. We are now forced to vote against this bill. Martin Hernik, Current party leader of the SF. |
Date | 09:07:54, November 01, 2011 CET | From | Konservative Partei | To | Debating the Education Reform |
Message | While we are encouraged by the proposal to privatise the delivery of nursery services, we cannot support either of the other two proposals in this legislation. An education system without any kind of yardstick is doomed to failure, and we disapprove of the unpatriotic suggestion that the national anthem be relegated to a mere afterthought. - Roel de Haan, education spokesperson for the Konservative Partei |

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there. |
