Bill: Responsible Union Decisions Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Deltarian Liberal Movement
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 3208
Description[?]:
Submitted by Violet Walsh, Social Liberal Faction. The Social Liberals move that the Government of Deltaria allow for workers unions to make their own decisions regarding strike action. If these people wish to leave their jobs in order to join a protest, then legally we should not stop them under the normal and usual circumstances. That being said, we must also give dignity to the workplace owner - who is, after all, the one who has developed and nurtured their business to the place it is today. It is these people, the owners and managers, that would best understand the circumstances of their company - not the Government. By implementing this act, people will be free to support their fellow man if they so choose. They have the ability, and will only be penalized if they fail to use their own judgement in deciding if their decision is 'reasonable' under article one. We must stop coddling these people. If they believe that their reason to strike is a responsible and respectable one - then they should have no issue in being able to effectively argue that in circumstances where the business owner disagrees. Both parties, under this legislation, are free to be the masters of their own fate - but are also given the tools to protect themselves if the other side abuses this freedom. |

Message | We will agree to this bill only because of our support of article I which frees companies from the government interfering with how they run the company. Our party uneasily accepts article II only beacuse of the glorious comprimise proposed by the liberal movement allowing strikers to be fired if the owner deems fit but allowing anyone to strike. |
