Bill: Income tax proposal of June 3212
Details
Submitted by[?]: Progressive Conservatives
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 3213
Description[?]:
Our ministry advocates a new tax plan: using a flat 5% income tax that requires citizens to contribute 5% of annual income. Legislators might consider our plan a progressive one - higher earners contribute more than lower earners - but we think it counter-productive and tantamount to discrimination to impose a higher percentage because of income. Our new plan eliminates three tax brackets (1%, 11%, 22% and 50%) and actually increases our treasury by more than 41 billion BEL. |
