Bill: Competitive Aldegar Tax Reform Proposal

Details

Submitted by[?]: Ducal Delegation

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2147

Description[?]:

At 40%, our current highest rate of income tax is ludicrously high, driving talented people abroad. This revenue-neutral proposal will introduce a simple, 'flat rate' tax of 30% for everyone above 3400 ACR, taking the poorest out of the tax bracket altogether whilst giving the high-fliers an incentive to work harder.

Percy Waterman
(Personal Secretary to the Grand Duke of Hikirena and President of Aldegar)

MessageAs we said before, this would mean a very large number of poor-to-middling citizens paying vastly more tax than previously.

Random quote: "I worked at a factory owned by Germans, at coal pits owned by Frenchmen, and at a chemical plant owned by Belgians. There I discovered something about capitalists. They are all alike, whatever the nationality. All they wanted from me was the most work for the least money that kept me alive. So I became a communist." - Nikita Khrushchev
