Message | Mr. Speaker, Although it is the consensus of the Constitutional and National Party that the proposed legislation represents a somewhat anomalous legal situation and an awkward "halfway-house", it has been introduced to as to respect both the spirit of the law, and to allow for the reform set forth by my Right Honourable colleagues in the Constitutionalist Imperial League in their Imperial Service Bill to exist as more than a polite legal fiction, which would, assuredly, be the state of affairs should this bill fail to pass. It is the intention of my party to introduce a further bill, should time in the present parliament allow, to further provide for the pursuance of this most excellent reform by all able-bodied subjects of His Imperial and Most Excellent Majesty. I yield the floor. |
