Bill: Resolution on Lodamun/Likatonian Border security
Details
Submitted by[?]: Likaton Fascist Front
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2148
Description[?]:
PSS is concerned about recent fighting in proximity to our border with Lodamun. We seek leave from all parties to (a) Close this border temporarily. We do not want either side in the conflict using positions on our side of the border as a safe haven. (b) PSS occupying the cabinet position of defence strongly recommends we send military units to the Lodamun/Likatonian Border to ensure our soverignty is observed. These units are under no circumstances to enter foreign soil. (c) A media release to all sides that will advise that ANY units from ANY foriegn powers entering our land will be regarded as hostile and local commanders have orders to engage immediately. We regard these actions as a measured response to prevent the conflict spreading beyond the borders of Lodamun. Current strategic situation can be seen here: http://www.takeforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3504&mforum=particracy As you will observe, our border outposts can smell the gunpowder. |

Message | The AAS has reservations about Likatonia becoming embroiled 'by proxy' in this situation. As a pacifist party, how can the AAS sanction militarising our north-east border? But, then - if we do NOT reinforce our borders, what is to stop Deltaria from expanding into our territory? We MUST support closing the border... and, one presumes we must ALSO support placing military forces on the North East front. (Although, the AAS obviously wishes this were NOT the case). Ideally - our Foreign Minister should prepare a media statement, if we decide to follow this action. (Unless the Likatonian Senate would prefer that such a statement came from the First Advocate, herself). |

Message | The RLP supports this resolution wholeheartedly, and thanks the PSS for a timely and concise description of the current situation. We musty maintain our neutrality in this situation, and keeping both sides out of our country is the best way to do so. I have instructed our minister of trade and industry to look into the possibility of increasing our production of defense industry items, both in case of the need for domestic consumption, and as possible export items shouild either or both of the combatants approach us. |

Message | I would suggest the First Advocate release the media statement. I was initially inclined to think the foreign minister should do it as a way of 'down playing' the importance, however military movements are far from subtle. In drafting I would suggest also we emphasise that we simply are maintaining our soveriegnty, and that any combatants captured on our side of the border will be treated humanely and released back to their respective countries after hostilities have ceased. |

Message | Does the Senate of Likatonia wish for the AAS to release a staement 'now' (since we have the majority in favour), or on the actual passage of the Resolution (when voting finishes)? |

Message | PSS thanks AAS, PCP, RLP, PP (so far) for this solid and swift vote. It is heartening indeed to know that despite out political divides we can combine in strength for the greater good of Likatonia when necessary. This show of solidarity will also be psychological weapon for those that may seek to exploit political differences in our country. PSS proposes that the AAS release the statement ASAP as time is of the essence. Due to the overwhelming support already shown and the immediate needs we are mobilising military units towards the border area. We estimate the border will be sealed almost immediately. |
