Bill: Call for early elections, March 3257

Details

Submitted by[?]: United Liberal Alliance

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill requests an early election. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline. Elections will be held immediately if the bill passes.

Voting deadline: November 3257

Description[?]:

'Now that we have completed the constitutional revolution within Telamon and secured the establishment of the United Federal Republic, I believe that the time is right for this first Parliament to be dissolved and for the country to be given the chance to vote in the first multi party, democratic elections within Telamon in recent history. It should now be up to the people to decide who they want to take Telamon forward and what government they want. I am therefore announcing to Parliament that the government is calling early elections and these will be held next month. Long live the United Federal Republic.'

John Russell
Prime Minister

OOC: I know that elections were due in July anyway, but now that we have completed the constitutional change and all parties have had an opportunity to raise their profiles/visibility, it seems sensible to call elections now, rather than wait another day or so in real time. We can then get down to the business of governing within the new constitutional framework and debating future legislation.

Random fact: Moderation reserves the discretion to declare RP laws invalid if the players supporting them are doing so in an excessively confrontational way.
