MessageMr. Speaker,

We are unfortunately 100% against these measures. Our citizens want a strong and stable government, and a strong and stable government must be able to control the facets of the nation all through one tap. The federal government, in our humble opinion, must remain in power for these measures.

We will not yet vote nay, as we are interested in the debate of this legislation.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We oppose Article 1 because some sites are of such national and historic importance that it is inappropriate to subject them to the whims of local politicians who might decide to demolish them or sell them off to private owners.

We oppose Article 2 because although our energy industry needs to be reformed, we are not sure handing it to local government is the right answer.

We oppose Article 3 because we are not satisfied that, left to themselves, every council in the land would provide a decent fire service. Some of them might be tempted by cheap options.

We oppose Article 4 because many of our public works projects have a regional or national significance, and simply would not be invested in were it left entirely to local government.

MessageLord Speaker,

Doth the federal government truly need the burden of so much negligible duties, I would much rather have my neighbor controlling my home region than a professional politician in the Capital.
