Bill: Health Service Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Dorvische Partei

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 3286

Description[?]:

We realise that currently we operate a deficit, and that this proposal would require a considerable increase in health expenditure.

However we do not understand why currently the Dorvische people are left to fend for themselves when it comes to health care provision. We believe that there should be access for all to health care, and that we a correct realighnment of government expenditure this is a feasible aim, and of massive benefit to the entire population.

We were recently bemused by the DR's proposal to increase the healthiness of the population by allowing abortions. And yet no suggestion that allowing access to health care for all might actually increase the healthiness of the population.

Private healthcare would be unaffected, indeed private hospitals and clinics would be encouraged to come into the state health system, or to take on cases paid for by the state.

We shall leave this up to debate for a while.

MessageWhen I was looking at some of the figures, I found that it looked like the budget for health was taking into account the possibility that there was a public health system in place at a time. Our only problem with this proposal is the wording 'free' public health care system. While we support free healthcare for those suffering from medical emergencies, we're not sure that supporting an entirely 'free' system will give people enough of a reason to use private medical centers.

MessageMy reasoning would be that a paid service would generally be of superior quality and quicker as you can queue jump, and would probably be better as specialist areas. If you had to choose dinner would you go for a McDonalds or a five star restuarant? Depends how much moolah you have and what your requirement is.

MessageHerr Speaker,

I believe it is admirable that we have a free health care system for those who cannot afford it and the reason we back this is because private healthcare is still allowed.

MessageIt turns out we are the only major right-wing party remaining that promotes a small government and a free economy. We will vote whole-heartedly against this bill.

MessageAlthough we usually do agree with keeping a private sector in every part of the primary, the secondary and the tertiary sector, we, and especially I, do not think the public health care belongs to any of this sectors or should be a "business" at all. The state is made off its citizens, and ill citizens mean an ill state. This may sound a bit rough, but I dont trust a doctor working for a private clinic who has to deal with, for example, 300 patients a day to keep his job. We, as those who are able to do, should ensure a good and free medical care for everyone in Dorvik. And thus this bill is a good first step, that hopefully will lead to a completely public health care.
