Bill: Call for early elections, May 3283

Details

Submitted by[?]: Revolucia Partio de Koburo

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill requests an early election. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline. Elections will be held immediately if the bill passes.

Voting deadline: January 3284

Description[?]:

"The current government has been in power for three years and has achieved absolutely nothing, of any value whatsoever. All they have done is ravaged Coburan democracy at every turn, in their attempts to destroy the last vestiges of any challenges to their power. The extending of the legislative term is nothing more than a pathetic, petulant and opprobrious, naked grab for power. The people are understandably not happy with the current state of affairs - and I fear for what forms their disillusionment might take. They demand an immediate election in order to hold their government to account. No doubt the cowardly fascists will refuse to countenance any such notions, but we will not be deterred from arguing for what is right.

We will continue to ask for early elections until our demands are met."

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election.

Random quote: "A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject." - Winston Churchill
