From | Luthori Green Party | To | Debating the Election of a new Rzeczpospolita Emperor | Message | Well, we can't have a one horse race, can we?
Considering the current laws in Luthori, I guess my candidate would have to be heterosexual and of the same gender that they were born as. It also seems that my candidate has to be from the species [italics]Homo sapiens[/italics] (known to the layman as human, but translates as "wise man"), although it would be fun if the candidate just had to be from the family Hominidae, so we could have humans running against chimpanzees, bonobos, orangutans, and gorillas. From some of the debates in the Sejm, you'd think they enter politics regularly.
So the candidate being endorsed by the LEC is...
*drumroll*
Lord Havelock Vetinari ( Rzeczpospolita Emperor Havelock I). |

From | Social Calvinist Unionist Party | To | Debating the Election of a new Rzeczpospolita Emperor | Message | Wait a sec, everybody. We're having elections soon, and I don't think that the other bill won't pass in time.
If it WERE to be passing, then I nominate Zygmunt IV August, descendant of Sigismund II Augustus, creater of the original Rzeczpospolita. |

From | Luthori Green Party | To | Debating the Election of a new Rzeczpospolita Emperor | Message | If no-one can provide a 2/3 majority, do we do instant run-off voting or the same system as our political elections (have the all parties state their support for one of the two candidates who have the most votes). |

From | Covenanters (IA) | To | Debating the Election of a new Rzeczpospolita Emperor | Message | My plan was to eliminate all but one candidate using a first past the post system then put the bill to the vote to see if that Emperor-Elect gets a 2/3 majority.
If anyone has a better idea I'm open to them. |

From | Covenanters (IA) | To | Debating the Election of a new Rzeczpospolita Emperor | Message | Parties that aren't nominating "their own" candidates need to support one of the existing ones. Just post and I will edit the description. Shall we go on number of parties or seats? |

From | Covenanters (IA) | To | Debating the Election of a new Rzeczpospolita Emperor | Message | Maybe, but there were time constraints. How shall we settle this: parties, kingdoms (regions) or seats? Whatever happens the bill to crown the winner needs a two thirds super majority. |

From | Covenanters (IA) | To | Debating the Election of a new Rzeczpospolita Emperor | Message | Interesting that Lord Vetinari is the first candidate to attract multi-party support: but if we go by seats that doesn't count for much. If this election is still ongoing after the Sejm elections I'll adjust the seat count accordingly. |

From | Covenanters (IA) | To | Debating the Election of a new Rzeczpospolita Emperor | Message | I suggested it to avoid leaving the SRP and PIP out, but the winner needs a 2/3 vote to become Emperor so if we go by anything but seats we might just find the bill is defeated.
Then again: that could give you your reason for starting a rebellion. |

From | Social Calvinist Unionist Party | To | Debating the Election of a new Rzeczpospolita Emperor | Message | Looks like Vetinari has more seats AND more parties supporting him than any other candidate.
By the way, just outta curiousity, does the monarch hafta be a guy? A female leader WAS in charge of the RL Commonwealth (albeit only for a few years). |

From | Luthori Green Party | To | Debating the Election of a new Rzeczpospolita Emperor | Message | Updated Electoral News:
Zygmunt August (Rzeczpospolita Emperor Sigismund IV Augustus) - RzP (125)
Lord Havelock Vetinari (Rzeczpospolita Emperor Havelock I) - CSJ (102), SRP (101) Total (203)
Rzeczpospolita King Richard the Lionheart (Rzeczpospolita Emperor Richard I) - DUP (116) |
Date | 14:09:25, December 07, 2005 CET |
From | Covenanters (IA) | To | Debating the Election of a new Rzeczpospolita Emperor | Message | By the Grace of God, Rzeczpospolita Emperor Richard the Lionheart, Defender of The Faith, announces his withdrawal from the election. Having already served two terms as King and Emperor, and given that he already has the significant advantage of being Emperor if any bill to replace him fails, His Imperial Majesty believes it is time to give someone else a chance.
The traditionalists of the DUP will back the King of Tinako, Zygmunt August, and hope this will strengthen the ties between Utagia, Tinako and the remainder of the Empire. |
Date | 13:36:31, December 15, 2005 CET |
From | Covenanters (IA) | To | Debating the Election of a new Rzeczpospolita Emperor | Message | A yes votes means a vote for the first candidate. Anything less than a 2/3 vote in his favour means Richard the Lionheart is still Emperor.
I really should have cleared up the description before voting shouldn't I? |
