Message | We are inclined to move this as a complete bill but would like to hear the opinions of other Parties before we do. We will consider splitting it. |

Message | We do not understand the effectiveness of the third article (as the Socialists propose to do away with the police). The Conservative Party is very curious indeed about the Socialists' idea about who will be protecting and enforcing the Law after they have abolished the police force. |

Message | Article 1 (the elimination of funding for a National Police) does just that. It eliminates a National Police Force. There is nothing to prevent communities from establishing a local or Provincial police force, but the national government will not maintain one. It is not necessary, it represents an overreach in State authority, in our opinion, and it should be devolved. Furthermore, the national government should not be involved in law enforcement for political reasons. We are very familiar with the arguments about Party militias- a new Party can come in and use that to defeat the Republican nature of the System. A national police force can be similarly abused- Suppose some party got a legislative majority and began using the current system to begin hunting down and imprisoning its political opponents. Since the Conservatives and the MFG were keen in preventing us from establishing the tools for new Parties to establish independent foci of political power out of the established system, surely they will assist us in preventing those same hypothetical parties from using the sources of legitimate force to promote the same political agendas that they were concerned about when considering Party militias. |

Message | The "government" means just that - "government". Local, regional, provincial, national - it's all "the government". If the Socialists wish to do away with the national police force but leave the other options open, they should propose "The operation and funding of the police department is left to the local government.". Of course, the Conservative Party should not advise them on their political strategy, we can only point at incoherences in their proposal. Besides that, there is no prevention from one party to take power. However, civil wars may be prevented. That is why we are in favor of a national police force, but against party militias. |

Message | We will separate the proposal on the National Police Department into a different bill, if this forms an acceptable compromise for our Governing Partners in the Conservative Party. |

Message | As for compromise, we can only agree on article 2. If the SA cares to propose it separately, we will support it. If not, we are obliged to vote against the entire bill. We will not abolish our police force just like that. |

Message | Here is the closest we will get. We will offer those other two articles as separate bills, so that the Conservatives may at least vote on them. But for us, these are key parts of the legislation, and so we will vote on them separately. |

Message | We don't see the coherence in these proposals and feel obliged to vote against them. |
Date | 15:38:00, May 12, 2012 CET | From | Social Progressive Party of Mordusia | To | Debating the Police Reorientation Minute |
Message | They are perfectly coherent in that they limit the ability of the police to play a direct and arbitrary role in the lives of citizens. |
