Bill: Campaign for Increased Public Representation
Details
Submitted by[?]: Radical Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 3304
Description[?]:
Currently each member of the People's Assembly is expected to represent 569,214 people, well over half a million. The Radical Party contends that 175 is too few representatives for a nation of almost 100 million & so proposes that the legislature be increased in size to 399, roughly one member for every quarter of a million people. This will provide the people with broader representation while keeping parliament at a manageable size & preserving the use of odd-numbers to prevent deadlock. |
