Message | The Liberal Party, as the Conservative Party, JUST authored the current law! If this is not an instance of oscillation of the law, we can't think of a clearer example! This is outrageous! |

Message | The Progressives supported this legislation: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=350423 We did not. We were in favor of installing paramilitaries, if (and only if, we were quite specific) the professional army would be (in part) disbanded. However, the Progressives seemed to have shifted their position rather quickly! Mr. Speaker, it is outrageous how the Progressives do not even take into consideration their own voting behavior before attacking another party on its supposed incoherence. We demand the honorable Progressive member calms down. |

Message | We don't believe in these sorts of preconditions. Paramilitaries are good for the sake of themselves. This balance that the Liberal Party keeps posing (we will support this bill if and only if this other bill is not in effect, and so forth, another example being funding for higher education OR funding for primary and secondary schooling, but not ever both...) is not the way the NPP does things. We believe in give and take, but that is in terms of vote trading to get bills passed. We don't argue, contrary to the way the LP sees things, that we can only have EITHER a full time military OR a Paramilitary force. And if the LP will remember, we also supported the bill legalizing paramilitaries and the part time military. The size of the standing military is inconsequential to us. What is important to us is that Parties have the right to raise paramilitary forces. So naturally, it is should not seem so amazing to the Speaker from the Liberal Party that we are opposed to a criminalization of paramilitaries, regardless of our position on the size of the standing professional military. Like other bills, that is the compromise the LP made with itself. We will not let them charge that compromise to US as a condition for getting the things that we want. We regret that the Liberals have taken it upon themselves to tell us to calm down. Given the absolute disregard for the oscillation portion of the etiquette bill, we will resign our offices in Government ahead of the election to protest the stances taken by our Governing Partners in recent years. And we hereby declare a boycott of any government bill proposed by any current member of the Government during the coming term. |
