Message | Sexuality and all matters related to it are a genuinely private matter, and so is contraception. The cost of contraceptives is marginal and affordable for everyone. STDs are rather a result of irresponsible behavior by individuals, the proposed measures will not change anything about that. Dr. James Bannerman GNP Spokesman for Health and Social Services |
Date | 02:56:26, July 14, 2012 CET | From | Frente Amplio de Acción Democrática | To | Debating the Contraceptives Act |
Message | "PAC agrees with Dr. Bannerman that sex and all related matters are genuinely private and individual affairs. Nevertheless, this bill does not relate to a matter of privacy, nor does it undermine this individual right. Privacy is not important regarding this bill as this bill does not affect, indirectly or otherwise, privacy. Contraceptives, thanks to current laws regarding this matter, are extremely cheap within Dranland and affordable to most everyone. This bill does make contraceptives available throughout the nation more so than the current laws, nevertheless, it is the person's own right to choose whether to use contraceptives or not, regardless of the cost of contraceptives. Even if they were free and completely available throughout Dranland, there will still be people who choose not to ever use contraceptives. The point being that the current value is the most beneficial as it greatly reduces the cost of contraceptives without costing the state. If this bill were to pass, PAC predicts that the changes would be minimal, and could go either way, for good or for bad." |
