As to kendo over kickboxing? Hmm. We need to think on the matter.

Fencing involves rapiers, sabers, foils and other such Renaissance weaponry. Kendo involves Katanas.
I am not sure where our history lies, however, I did not believe it was filled with asian influence.

MessageBut the simple fact is that our history is not RL history- our history is Gaduri history. Maybe our history involves a sword cult similar to the Ferraes Cult in Ancient Rome, only with Katanas instead of Gladii. If there is good support for fencing, I'll amend it, but I still say Kendo is cooler.

MessageI suspect we would be a pretty rare stock with Kendo.

OOC: I also have fenced, but that doesn't change the fact that Kendo is pretty darn awesome. Wooden Swords! w00t!

MessagePIP, considering that other nations have had Fencing, I am willing to go for Kendo.

OOC: It's unique without being queer like Capoeira.

That's because we're the only nation with rampant homosexuality, because you gay bastards won't let us annihilate them already.

MessageAll this gay bashing and vehement homophobia by certain parties only seeks to implicate themselves as being insecure with their heterosexuality, indicating that in truth they are afraid of their own homosexual tendancies perhaps. And other nations have also had Kendo.

OOC: Same goes OOC. If you think Capoeira has anything to do with person's sexuality and is anymore "queer" than any other martial art, you're an idiot. You also probably have no rhythm. If we wanted to be creative we could make up our own sport and write an entry in the Wiki, though we all probably wouldn't agree and its not worth wasting the time if it can so easily be changed.

MessageOOC: Seriously '...a sword cult similar to the Ferraes Cult in Ancient Rome'. How can anyone deny the pure unadultered awesome inherent in the above? WITH KATANAS! Wakizashi and Katana dual wielding swordsman.

As for the Capoeira thing:
A) Gay is often used as a colloquialism.
B) Capoeria is a nigh useless combat art (I am a kickboxer, mixed in Jun Fan free style, Muay Thai and standard westernised free form, these are actually effective (Though not as much as the Gracie wrestlers)). I'd say that this is purely subjective, but it really isn't. Look at the fight club arenas in Osaka or even the UFC and you'll notice that Capoeria isn't dominating at all; as such high flying and over the top arts wear you out quicker and offer maximal effort for minimal combat return (Ras Buten would probably break their face in one kick, with excess precision and a less free flowing form).
C) Disliking something for being an amalgamation of dance and combat does not mean one can't dance, nor fight. It just happens to be a distaste for the (what we define as), ineffective merging of the two.

MessageOOC: Well Futbol which used to be our national sport is a useless as a combat art. There's absolutely no rule here that says the national sport has to be what the NPG feels is a useful combat art or not or that we even have to have a national sport that is a combat art. I was merely pointing out that ruling out a unique artform like Capoeira because its too "queer" for you sounds downright idiotic and irrelevent as any form of rationale.

It doesnt matter what is effective and not effective in UFC because that was never the inspiration behind making it our national sport in the first place, so having that as an excuse really doesn't make much sense. And his name is Bas Ruten, not Ras Buten.

Creating a custom sport would solve some problems, though the fact that it can easily be changed undermines it somewhat.

MessageOOC: Subjective distaste is idiotic? Right... all moralists take heed, eh.

It isn't about what I feel is important... hell, the PIP was the one who proposed the Bill, I just debated whether or not I'd support, a reasonable right that parties from all echelons partake in. It almost seems like you have some kind of smallminded personal feud, which is surprising cause I have nothing against you.

Please, just calm down... I mean honestly, it's a fucking game.

Random fact: Parties have the ability to endorse another party's candidate for the Head of State election (if there is one). This adds a strategic element to the elections.
