Bill: Budget proposal of June 3365

Details

Submitted by[?]: Popular Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 3366

Description[?]:

The Popular Party propose to adjust the government's spending budget to better address the economic and social situation of the The Republic of Dranland. We believe that currently in Dranland, not enough money is being spent on frontline education. To change this, some extreme steps must be taken if we are to raise this budget without raising taxes. We believe this can be done without affecting frontline spending in health, defence and justice. However, some major changes must be made in other budgets. As you will be aware, we have proposed to slash the budgets for Trade and Industry and Food and Agriculture. We believe the government should have very limited involvement in these areas. We believe that a small budget should be retained for Food and Agriculture mainly to ensure food safety is maintained. We believe the government should have no role whatsoever in trade and industry. This budget will strike some parties as extreme at first but if we are to ensure Dranland has a world-class education system and make sure every child achieves what they want in life, then more resources will be needed. This is not an ideological bill, this bill is purely based on improving our education system.

MessageWe can't completely abolish spending on trade and industry, since we need to fund regulatory institutions and other administrative structures. We would, however, agree with the rest of the bill.
