Bill: Regional Power Grid Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Thomasian Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2152
Description[?]:
In Mordusia we currently have a situation where a power company can buy an area of the National Grid giving them a monopoly in the energy market in certain regions. This means that power companies have no reason to provide a competitive and efficiant service. We therefore propose that the ownership and maintainence of the Power Grid is given to regional governments. Consumers will then be able to purchase power from the energy supplier of their choice. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy on the nation's power grid.
Old value:: Multiple private companies each own and maintain sections of the national power grid.
Current: Multiple private companies each own and maintain sections of the national power grid.
Proposed: Each region owns and maintains its own power grid.

Message | We agree that it is very important that citizens have access to multiple energy providers; the competition for customers will keep energy prices down. And we also agree that the regional governments are in the best position to ensure that access for the citizens. We therefore support this proposal. |

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there. |
