Message | There are lots of forms of ID already in use, ID cards are not necessary. The might be useful in some instances but that doesn't justify the cost or legislation resembling that of a Big Brother state. We need to remove them when fascism is rearing its ugly head and we need to keep rid of them to avoid corruption and actually to avoid identity fraud. The idea that the personal details of everyone in the country are kept on a single database is ridiculous, it is a goldmine for hackers and fraudsters. In operating various different databases for passports, driving licenses or registry offices then we avoid that problem. A convincing argument for ID cards has never been presented and concerns over the dangers of ID cards have never been alleviated. |

Message | I have supported compulsory ID carrying throughout all previous incarnations of my party. In the interests of law and order, people need to be able to identify themselves if the police consider this necessary and warranted. Thus errors of formality may be avoided and can justice find its course swiftly. |
