Message | We will support this bill. However, we'd like to suggest a couple of amendments in order to define "poverty line" more precisely. Replacing: "but are below the poverty line and therefore cannot pay for their own counsel." With: "but for whom the anticipated cost of counsel represents more than 5% of their annual income and more than 10% of their savings." |

Message | A statesmanlike bill which will have the support of the CCF. |
Date | 21:26:05, May 09, 2005 CET | From | Chorus of Amyst | To | Debating the Legal Representation Act |
Message | The Albert Party's suggestion can be manipulated by those who can in fact afford legal counsel. The poverty line is already federally determined, and as such little clarification of its definition should be required. |

Message | (AC - sorry, can you point to where poverty is determined federally, I've had a look at all the bills and can't find it) However, with or without a precise definition, if this goes to vote, we'll support it. |

Message | ( It's an assumed thing, sorry. Kind of how I assume that there's some national minimum wage and a single kind of currency and other various economic factors.) |
