Bill: Bill for a Greater Selucia
Details
Submitted by[?]: Factio Liberum Selucianum
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 3406
Description[?]:
The FLS has identified a number of idiosyncrasies in the Selucian Legislation, and we would like to take this chance to correct it. Article 1: Selucians are conscripted at age 18. Those who are old enough to fight and die for our great nation are old enough to be considered adults. Article 2: Dioecesis, "Diocese" or "District" in English, can either be a religious administrative area in the former case, or a small administrative area (therefore, ungrand sounding) in the latter case. As such, we believe the name "Provincia", or Province, is a more suitable name for the vast subdivisions of the Imperium. |

Message | We are open for debate when it comes to Article 1. Our movement is split on the issue, with individual representatives who would prefer to increase the current age of adulthood to 24, and some who would rather lower it to 17 or 16. It all depends on what the definition on adulthood should be. If it stands for the age on where individuals can take responsibility for their actions and have the adequate experience to make up a well thought political opinion of their own, it could well be below 18. If it stands for the age when a citizen should be able to function as a responsible member of society, it could be well higher. We oppose Article 2 as a break form Selucian tradition, which threatens to move our Dear Empire in the direction of bland, generic republics. We would rather prefer an eventual change to be made after a long open debate among the representatives of the people, with the consultation of our Empire's finest experts. Thurs, we shall oppose this bill. |

Message | I am extremely sure that Article 2 is definitely NOT a break from Selucian tradition. For example, the most reliable piece of information that we have on the nation's history, the wiki article, clearly states the old provincial names as "Provinciae Imperii". It is patently obvious that Provincia (the singular form of Provinciae) is THE traditional Selucian name. |
