Message | Kirlawa has one of the strongest economies in all of Terra: please see http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5054 as of December 3401. One major reason why, is that we have not only a comprehensive safety net but also conscientiously maintain a balanced budget and avoid reckless tax cuts. Kirlawa currently has a surplus of about 0,4% of GDP, and this proposal would needlessly drive us into deficit. |

Message | It would be accompanied by strong budget cuts, no one is asking for unfunded tax cuts. The taxes in Kirlawa are simply too high and the economy can always get stronger. |

Message | If anything, taxes are too low. Currently around 26% of GDP overall. http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5020 |

Message | OOC: That thread is off-topic and purely based on opinion, so I have no qualms posting this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_spending Many governments spend less than 26% of GDP. It's all a matter of how we RP Kirlawa. |

Message | The reason why we collect just 26% of GDP is the very high rates of income taxes for Kirlawans earning over half a million. The Laffer Curve clearly states that tax rates beyond a certain figures are less effective at increasing revenue. A sharp cut in taxes will not necessarily harm revenue but could in fact increase it. |

Random fact: Parties have the ability to endorse another party's candidate for the Head of State election (if there is one). This adds a strategic element to the elections. |
