MessageKirlawa has one of the strongest economies in all of Terra: please see
http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5054
as of December 3401.

One major reason why, is that we have not only a comprehensive safety net but also conscientiously maintain a balanced budget and avoid reckless tax cuts. Kirlawa currently has a surplus of about 0,4% of GDP, and this proposal would needlessly drive us into deficit.

MessageIt would be accompanied by strong budget cuts, no one is asking for unfunded tax cuts. The taxes in Kirlawa are simply too high and the economy can always get stronger.

MessageIf anything, taxes are too low. Currently around 26% of GDP overall.

MessageOOC: That thread is off-topic and purely based on opinion, so I have no qualms posting this:

Many governments spend less than 26% of GDP. It's all a matter of how we RP Kirlawa.

MessageThe reason why we collect just 26% of GDP is the very high rates of income taxes for Kirlawans earning over half a million. The Laffer Curve clearly states that tax rates beyond a certain figures are less effective at increasing revenue. A sharp cut in taxes will not necessarily harm revenue but could in fact increase it.

Random fact: Parties have the ability to endorse another party's candidate for the Head of State election (if there is one). This adds a strategic element to the elections.
